Evo Japan Dead Or Alive 6 Promo Interrupted After A NSFW Clip

Evo Japan Dead Or Alive 6 Promo Cut Short After A NSFW Clip

Sunday, 17 February 2019

Just like every other Evolution tournaments, Evo Japan allows video companies have some time to assume control on the stage to promote/demo upcoming titles. This same opportunity was however used to showcase Dead or Alive 6, which is said to release on the 1st of next month (March).

Meanwhile, the promotional moment was interrupted when the commentators took a moment to show off Dead or Alive 6’s free camera control in the most sexual way possible (Click here to see where the NSFW is shown.)

However, the commentators purposely paused, zoomed-in and rotated the camera to showcase a piledriver that looks like a sec act. While one character is on her back with her legs over her head, the other’s face is positioned in her crotch when viewed from the right angle.

The laughter from the commentators is what really solidifies the unsuitability and immaturity of the moment. The presentation also displayed the two women presenters playfighting in such a way that were overtly sexual, as though to mimic the franchise itself. One purposely turned her back to the camera after being playfully punched and then was spanked by the other presenter.

This took place while the woman who delivered both hits continuously bounced up and down so that her breasts would move in an exaggerated manner. Hence, it isn't exactly the best advertisement for a game that is trying to separate itself from the stigma of being just a sexy fighting game.

These were all things those running Evo were not okay with. As reported by VG247, Evo Director Joey Cuellar explained why the presentation was interrupted in a tweet which has since been deleted already. But according to what Cuellar tweeted, he said that “The [Dead or Alive 6] ad that aired on our stream does not reflect the core values of Evo or the FGC. We ended the stream temporarily to protect the integrity of our brand. We sincerely apologize to our fans”.

As it is now, it's still not clear if this incident well affect future tournaments or not.
